Opportunity

Collaborate with a major NYC teaching institution and their wholly owned orthopaedic facility to streamline and overhaul the central sterile department. Opportunities include: sterilization containers, instrumentation, and instrument repairs

Obstacles

• Large capital budget required
• Multiple entrenched competitive vendors across many specialties
• Need to navigate around existing contracts
• Changes in Sr. Management at both medical centers

What HCP Did

• Built a strong relationship with key decision-makers including OR, CS, and Sourcing
• Developed a unique Capitation Agreement guaranteeing a fixed monthly budget with improved efficiencies
• Utilized manufacturer’s key competencies and created a state-of-the-art platform for CS training, and OR/CS synergy resulting in department wide changes in areas of instrument repair and preventative maintenance
• Created a new OR-CS liaison position furthering enhancing instrument tracking and accuracy
• Developed and presented multiple payment options to customer allowing them to standardize now while working within capital budget constraints.

Results

System wide three pronged conversion-containers, instruments, and repairs that is largest ever in NYC and amongst largest in company history.
